Seeking to look after the safety of its citizens, both human and large ungulate, the small town of Ruidoso, New Mexico, is erecting elk signs.
“These elk are the most photographed thing in Ruidoiso and sometimes our tourists are stopped along the road to take their pictures. This also causes traffic issues,” Debi Lee, village manager, told the Ruidoso News.
Elk herds, large and small, are becoming more of a common sight in the town located in central New Mexico.
