Over its more than 33 years of existence, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation has supported and funded a multitude of scientific studies to benefit elk and other wildlife.
One recent, ongoing study is focused on capturing and monitoring elk so researchers and biologists can get a better understanding of Brucellosis, a disease that typically causes elk, bison and cattle to abort their fetuses during the first pregnancy after infection.
RMEF supplied $115,000 in funding spread over 2016, 2017 and 2018 to assist Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks in the effort.
To date, one elk tested positive for the disease.
