The call came in from the U.S. Forest Service and they answered it.
Volunteers from the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation teamed up with volunteers from other organizations in northern California elk country.
According to the Siskiyou Daily News, the group of 33 assisted in the planting of approximately 27,000 Mountain mahogany trees over two days in Siskiyou County on the Klamath National Forest. The focus fell within an area burned by the Little Deer Mountain Fire.
The new vegetation will provide improved habitat for elk, deer and other bird and animal life.
