Bass Pro Shops’ RMEF Conservation Month Pulls in Big Bucks for Wildlife

Once again this July, Elk Foundation volunteers spent their weekends working beside Bass Pro Shops store managers across the country to engage and educate customers about elk and conservation—and helped raise a chunk of change for RMEF in the process.

During  RMEF Conservation Month, shoppers made a $2 donation for a chance to win awesome prizes, including a Montana 2010 rifle elk and mule deer hunt for two; a PBR 2009 World Finals package with event tickets, VIP passes and lodging for four; a $1,000 Bass Pro shopping spree (gift card); and a $500 Bass Pro shopping spree (gift card). The drawing was held August 15, 2009.

Bass Pro Shops forwarded 100 percent of the proceeds to RMEF in support of its mission. In addition, Bass Pro Shops matched 50 cents for every dollar raised through the promotion. All told, the event brought in more than $64,600— nearly $23,400 more than last year’s conservation month.

“This is the third year that Bass Pro Shops has hosted RMEF Conservation Month in July, and it has produced tens of thousands of dollars and immeasurable public awareness of our organization. We value our partnership with Bass Pro Shops and appreciate the opportunity to utilize their retail locations to support a great cause,” said Bob Swanson, who coordinates the promotion for RMEF.

Thanks to all Elk Foundation volunteers who helped out with this year’s event!
