How old are they? That’s the question a Canadian man wants to know about a pair of elk antlers he dug out of a waterway. It happened near Woodstock, Ontario, approximately 100 miles west of Buffalo, New York.
“When I finally freed both antlers from the bank, I started screaming at the top of my lungs. I was so excited,” Sam Groenewegen told Ontario Out of Doors.
Groenewegen saw the antlers sticking out of the bank and finally pulled them out after about 45 minutes of shoveling. He plans to get them carbon dated to determine their age since elk have not historically roamed that part of Ontario for more than 100 years.
