A mystery is solved in the suburban community of Morrison, Colorado.
This written message turned up on the neighborhood message board: “Someone stole my kids’ pitching/batting net from the backyard on Mariposa! Not Cool! Any info welcome.”
The subsequent written response was short and sweet: “The elk took it.”
Sure enough, photos show that the netting is caught up in the antlers of a bull elk. Wildlife officials say tranquilizing the animal to remove the netting could harm it so they will let nature take its course. Bull elk shed their antlers every year.
