Calling it a regulatory nightmare for rural communities and ranchers, a Senator from Arizona wants to remove Mexican wolves from the list of federally protected species.
According to the Associated Press, Sen. Jeff Flake’s (R-AZ) bill calls for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to consider the species recovered and remove it from the Endangered Species List if the population of fewer than 100 animals is established along the Arizona-New Mexico border.
The latest survey estimated 113 Mexican wolves although a new count is expected shortly.
