There’s a new team in the southwestern part of North Dakota. Tribal authorities will work with North Dakota Game and Fish to carry out an elk hunt. The two sides signed an agreement for a hunt to take place on the Standing Rock Reservation.
Gov. Doug Burgum told the Associated Press that the new elk season “is the right thing for landowners, tribal members, wildlife and North Dakota hunting enthusiasts.”
The agreement creates a new elk hunting unit and may lead to other collaborations between the two organizations for hunting other species.
