Elk NetworkStrengthening Connections with Donors, Sponsors, Big Spenders and Event Attendees

Volunteer Newsletter | March 14, 2025

Volunteers are the driving force behind grassroots fundraising efforts in their communities. They work tirelessly spreading their passion for RMEF and conservation while getting cash donations, selling tables and getting unique local items donated – all in an effort to put on the most successful event possible. Once the event is over, everyone celebrates how successful the night was, all the hard work that went into it and that they can’t wait to do it all again next year!

However, there is some work to be done before the next year’s event to make sure donors, sponsors, big spenders and event attendees don’t have solely a transactional relationship with RMEF and the local chapter. Below are a variety of ways to show your appreciation while also transforming a transactional exchange into a lasting relationship.

  1. Thank-you cards can be ordered through EMS with your merchandise orders. Past experience shows handwritten cards highlight the importance of how impactful donations and attendance are to the success of an event.
  2. Donor certificates can be ordered through Print on Demand when ordering raffle/drawing tickets. These can be distributed as soon as the donation or sponsorship is given. Many businesses will hang these up prior to the event, which work as free advertising.
  3. Sharing Chapter Updates: Sharing the success of a banquet with a donor or sponsor is an important way to reinforce the impact of their support. When they see tangible results, such as funds raised and community engagement, it validates their investment and strengthens their connection to the cause. Highlighting the event’s success also creates a sense of pride and achievement, showing them that their contributions were instrumental in achieving meaningful outcomes.
  4. Staying connected to donors and sponsors throughout the year is crucial for building lasting relationships that go beyond single transactions. Regular communication keeps RMEF top of mind and reinforces the value of their contributions. When donors feel informed about ongoing projects, conservation successes and upcoming opportunities, it strengthens their sense of involvement and partnership in the mission.

Volunteers have a unique opportunity to create lasting impressions on RMEF’s valued supporters. By consistently showing gratitude and keeping in touch throughout the year, we strengthen relationships that not only support our current projects but also lay the groundwork for future success.
